The Concord Celebrates Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
June 6, 2019The former office park, known as Concord Plaza, has completed Phase I of a mixed-use redevelopment, introducing brand new luxury apartment homes and high-end retail to The Concord.
The Buccini/Pollin Group, Inc. (BPG), BPGS Construction, and ResideBPG are pleased to announce the grand opening of The Concord, North Wilmington’s newest luxury apartment community, located at 3575 Silverside Rd near the active Concord Pike traffic corridor. The grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony for Phase I of the all-inclusive ResideBPG community took place on Wednesday, June 5th at 4:00 PM.
Speakers included Tamara Morris, New Castle County Director of Economic Development, New Castle County Councilwoman Dee Durham, Chris Buccini, Co-President of The Buccini/Pollin Group, Michael Hare, Executive Vice President of The Buccini/Pollin Group, and Christine Downs, Vice President of Residential Operations of ResideBPG.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests enjoyed an exclusive poolside reception in The Concord’s impressive outdoor courtyard, featuring tours of the community, specialty cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a DJ, and photo booth.
Coming home to The Concord means enjoying the perfect balance of style, comfort, and convenience. Whether residents are looking for spacious floor plans, high-end finishes, or resort-style amenities, The Concord is designed to impress at every corner. The Concord offers unparalleled amenities North Wilmington has not yet seen, including a private pool and outdoor courtyard, two-story resident clubhouse complete with a game room and media center, as well as a two-story fitness center, Hub by Amazon package receiving, and dog washing station. One and two-bedroom apartment homes are also equipped with Latch, a keyless access system allowing residents to unlock their apartments with a smartphone.
Centrally located near Route 202, The Concord provides ideal access to the area’s endless attractions, employment hubs, and major roadways. New restaurants and retail within the community, such as Amstel Barbershop and The Mill Coworking space, offer residents the best of walkable living for the neighborhood. Onsite dining options, including Taverna Rustic Italian and El Camino Mexican Kitchen, are just steps away from the apartment homes. In addition, existing tenants, like Manhattan Bagel, Bright Horizons Daycare, and an array of specialty medical offices, offer residents modern conveniences within walking distance.
“I am pleased to launch a brand-new day for The Concord. It really is an exciting day in the continuing evolution of the entire Concord Pike corridor,” said Councilperson Dee Durham. “We hope that this great re-imagining of what had previously just been an isolated cluster of offices will spur on the redevelopment of the area based on creating a mixed use of offices, retail shops, restaurants, and residences that will create a more walkable, bikeable, and livable community for us all.”
The grand opening of The Concord apartment community signifies the completion of Phase I of the redevelopment of the former office park known as Concord Plaza. The new mixed-used community redefines retail and multi-family housing concepts for the area, which has largely been stagnant with respect to new construction for many years.
Built in the late 1960s, Concord Plaza was the first of its type in Delaware before being duplicated throughout the county. Given its prime location, it remains one of the most desirable and largest commercial parks in the state today at 45 acres, but had found itself in need of a new vision due to a changing market.
“Concord plaza is the epitome of what The Buccini/Pollin Group has been trying to do in our home of New Castle County over the past 25 years,” said Chris Buccini, Co-President of The Buccini/Pollin Group. “Rather than give up on this development after a big office tenant moved out, we decided to dig-in and re-imagine what the best version of Concord Plaza could be – ultimately conceiving the new mixed-use community that you see here today at The Concord.”
Once complete, the redevelopment will convert 185,000 square feet of underutilized office space to over 360 apartment units, 38,000 square feet of retail space, and a 60,000 SF Class A office building in a walkable community setting.
